It’s project day here—because I finished my first three chapters of a new book (yay)! More on that in October.
In the meantime, I’m working with my amazing sister-in-law to overhaul my front garden. (Let’s use the term garden real loosely. More like, my sorry attempt at keeping flowers alive…) But this time will be different! Apparently, different flowers need different kinds of sunlight (what? Who knew?) and my SIL camped out at my house for a day and charted the sunlight as it moved across the house. What. A. Concept. You mean, like…analyzed the sun pattern? Holy cow. Anyhoo…she asked me want I wanted my “garden” to look like. I sent her this. She said…Imma need more. So I sent this. Right now we have this… She said…I make no promises, but let’s try. I appreciate that! Because I get that promises are hard to keep (especially when it comes to ME keeping the flowers alive). And, promises can get us in over our heads… The Bible actually has this interesting advice: “It is a trap to dedicate something rashly and only later to consider one’s vows.” (Proverbs 20:25 NIV) But that is exactly what my hero Moose Mulligan did in One Last Promise, and ironically, his buddy Shep also made a promise to the lady he loves…to keep her safe. If you’ve read One Last Promise all the way to the end, um…he might have some problems. I love this finale story in One Last Stand. Shep and London have been a long-simmering couple for a while, and their story is a long time coming…if they can get there. Reviews are coming in, and I love this one from Publisher’s Weekly Booklist! And my cover designer (EAHCreative.com) knocked it out of the park. Read more here: As a member of the Air One Rescue team, pilot London Brooks has built a new life—one far away from her clandestine past as an operative tasked to take down a branch of Russian terrorists. She has no desire to reenter that world or endure the grief of losing everyone she loved, including her fiancé. But the past won’t stay past. When she finds herself falsely accused, her reputation tarnished, and her life in danger, she has no choice but to plunge back into the treacherous world she left behind. Even if she must surrender everything—and everyone—she loves in her new life.
Shep Watson will never forget the day he saved London Brooks from the avalanche that nearly killed her. He knew there was more to her story, but he’s intent on keeping her secrets. Just when it seems she’s finally ready to let him into her heart, her past comes knocking. But he can’t bear to lose her again. Which means, somehow, he’ll have to enter her world, keep up with her, and figure out a way to bring her home. But when the danger comes home to Alaska, what will it cost the Air One Rescue team? The book comes out in the Susan May Warren store on 9/10! (Also, a big shoutout to readers like you, because One Last Promise made the August Parable bookstore bestseller list! Whoot!) In the meantime, check out the P.S. for what to read this weekend. Tonight’s menu:
