I’m in snowy North Carolina today, with these lovely people, brainstorming projects for 2026. I’m surrounded with fabulous story ideas.
As I’m writing this, I believe Minnesota is under a blizzard warning, and we’re currently brainstorming a “trapped in a snowstorm” story.

So, as you heard on Tuesday, I was deep, deep, deep into the final chapters of the final book in the Minnesota Kingston’s series.
I love this series. It’s based on the hymn And Can It Be, That I Should Gain (by Charles Wesley) about God’s amazing love,
Susie is in her writing cave, so she asked me to pop in and give you a little update.
Right now, she’s is hard at work writing the final installment in the Minnesota Kingstons series—and trust me, she’s not holding back with this one!
Want to know a little about the book?
I woke up to 45 degree weather all week. My fingers were too cold to write a newsletter on Tuesday. (Okay, that’s not true. I was working on a story…and was so sucked into it I looked up and it was Friday!)
I realize the 45 degrees is not a hardship. In fact, it gave me a chance to wear my wool socks and fire up my cute little fake fireplace while I write today.
My senior year in high school, in the month of February, I caught a wicked case of strep throat. Or so I thought. I kept going to the doctor, they kept swabbing my throat, the tests kept coming back negative. But I kept running a low-grade fever, and my throat swelled up.
I lost fifteen pounds.
So we did a thing this weekend.
We love our backyard in Florida. What we don’t love is the hot hot sun on our deck. So…I convinced hubs to build a patio cover for the deck. He was thrilled.
Just to be clear, I helped too. I held stuff. And cleaned stuff.
So, I know it’s not Tuesday, but let’s pretend. I was buried deep in writing a novel on Tuesday, looked up around 5pm and said…oops. No newsletter today.
So…let’s make up for that with ALL the news. ALL the pictures.

Well, there’s this…
One year ago I was at my daughter’s home,
Oh, it’s cold out there! 55 degrees in Florida! I have some guys at my house today taking down a couple trees in anticipation of an addition we’re building on the house.
Right now, my yard looks like a jungle.
One of the tree guys showed up in a parka. But I get it—we accidentally left our fireplace in Minnesota and now we’re freezing!
So…today is my birthday. I am a little strange. I like to look back on my year and see what God has done, and pray over my next year and ask for guidance, and impact and the ability to bless others.
The past couple weeks, I’ve been reading a great book about how to create a financial legacy for my family.
