"Hot" Valentine's Day contest !

Susan Just for Fun

As you know, The Perfect Match has been re-released THIS MONTH!  ThePerfectMatchrepkg (2)

I've been running a contest the last few weeks for a chance to win a copy of The Perfect match! I have LOVED reading about your "hottest" (best, sweetest, most memorable!) Valentine's Day date!

I'm posting your toasty dates on Scribbles for the next few days to set the mood for Valentine's Day and, who knows, maybe you'll get a few new ideas. (wink, wink)

Here we go…

R.L.: I had only begun dating Mike one and a half months before. He arrived at my place bearing a gift. It was a lovely gift of pierced earrings- a heart with the word 'special' on each earring. But what anguish because I had let my piercings grow shut and what was I going to say to him. I finally got up the nerve to tell him and he seemed fine with it when I suggested that we find a pendant of similar or same style and he get that for me.  To this day, 20 yrs. later, I still have the pendant.

M.C.: My favorite Valentine's Day was the year my husband gave me a very thick, long envelope for Valentine's Day. We lived in Columbus, OH at the time, and had been married for about 5 years. I opened the card, wondering why it was so thick.  I can't remember for the life of me what the card looked like, but inside were two airplane tickets! I looked at the destination and it said… Detroit. Detroit?  In February? I looked at my husband and simply said, "Detroit?" He laughed, and told me to look at the next ticket. We connected in Detroit to … Orlando! Now that was a great destination in February!

We left later that day (my husband had even arranged with my boss for me to have time off from work!). It was snowing lightly, but by the time we got to Detroit, the snow was really coming down. Our connecting flight could not make it in, so we were stuck at the airport on Valentine's Day. Until my husband checked the outbound flights and saw that another carrier had a flight leaving in 20 minutes.  Our airline hooked us up with the new carrier and we were off. Without our luggage. But that's OK!  It was nice and warm in Florida.

K.M.: The winter of 1996-97 Von and I started dating on October 31. I knew he was THE ONE by Christmas and kinda thought he might ask the BIG QUESTION then…but nothing. We were both in our thirties, never married and I
have to say desiring to nest. I decided I would give him until Valentines to
ask me…otherwise I would propose to him on Feb 14.

Valentines evening I drove over to his house…out in the dark cold of a MN night…was -40 that night(must have been love huh?) I arrived and after thawing out he gave me a dozen roses and a small square box…my heart was pounding…I
open the box…and no ring. I got a heart shaped black hills gold necklace…well I managed to keep a smile on my face and we snuggled on the couch and ate pizza and watched a movie.

I figured I would be proposing tomorrow. Around midnight, he took my hand and still watching tv asked me if I would be his wife. This was the BEST Valentines day ever.We married Sept., 5 1997 and 3 kids and a dog and many adventures later I love him more than ever!! He is my best friend.

P.S. We honeymooned in the Scandinavian Riviera (otherwise known as Grand Marais, MN.

More tomorrow!
