I’m gonna be honest. In my childhood I loved a book called Zanballer.
It was a story about a girl who wanted to be a quarterback.
In my head I was that girl. I loved watching football with my dad. He would do this crazy thing where he would turn the volume off on the television and listen to the game on WCCO radio while he watched it on television. I learned how to listen to football games, to envision the field as the players ran the play and even the lingo and how to call a game. Sometimes I would turn off the volume and call the plays myself as if I was the radio announcer.
Then, I started calling penalties while I sat in the stands watching my sons play football. (Oh, the officials on the field just LOVED that. I was sooo helpful!)
And then I realized that there were women who were actual NFL officials. And I started to dream, what if I was an NFL official?
So, admittedly, that’s a little hard to do when you have four children and you spend most of your time in an overstuffed chair writing books. But that didn’t mean I couldn’t create one!
Enter IRIS.
Iris is my Minnesota girl who loves football and became a football official. And now she’s taking center stage for today’s release. I’m so excited for you to meet her, and of course the annoying man who just can’t let the bad guys get to her, Hudson Bly.
Iris hits the shelves today. And in honor of football let’s play a game!
Buried in the first 25% of the book are the answers to three questions.
- While in Paris, Iris enjoys a conversation on a balcony with someone in her family. Who is it?
- What are they both drinking? (be specific)
- Someone comes outside and brings with him/her something to eat. Who is it and what do they bring?
Once you discover the answers to these three questions go to this form. Fill it out, submit, and you will be entered into a drawing for a $50 Amazon gift card.
The game ends on Friday 08/11 and I will announce the winner then. So if you’ve already purchased the book and started reading you have a head start. If not, then open up that kindle and jump in!
I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I enjoyed writing it. For all of those girls out there who wanted to play football: High five!
XOXO
