This is actual footage of me today.
This is what happens when you go to NYC for four days and have to see EVERYTHING (or when you are married to Mr. Warren, who likes to get his money’s worth).
Day 1: 10.2 miles
Day 2: 7 miles
Day 3. 4 miles
Day 4. I fell into a ball and cried and we got a rickshaw through Central Park and an uber.
Hubs was oh-so-happy to get such a romantic ride through the park.
We did see some fun sites…
We had this amazing penthouse AirBnB with a view of The City that Never Sleeps—truly!
We also went to The Edge—a new attraction that is the highest viewing platform in North America. (Not sure what that means, but it was high. Scary. Cool.) Hubs tried to get me to stand on the glass. I used my ninja moves on him.
We also went to the 9/11 Museum, which was sobering, of course. We were in Russia during 9/11, but had visited the towers right before we left in 1998. And when we returned home, we went through NYC. They were still clearing the debris from the tower (this was August of 2002!). This fire engine brought me to tears, thinking of all the Firefighters and other EMS workers (not to mention the everyday people) who gave their lives for others.
I’m so amazed and humbled by Search And Rescue (SAR) people—that’s probably one of the reasons I love to write stories about them. My newest SAR book, One Last Chance, is available RIGHT NOW in the Susan May Warren Fiction Store. It’s about a former Coast Guard rescue swimmer who struggles with past mistakes…and the woman on the radio who helps him find peace. It’s book #2 in the Alaska Air One Rescue series (although you don’t have to have read book 1 to understand the story—they connect, but you won’t be lost).
I hope you enjoy Axel and Flynn’s story as much as I do. (And for fans of Rembrandt Stone…there might be a goodie or two in there for you, too!)
Finally—Happy Mother’s Day (a few days late)! Although my mother is in heaven, I was able to celebrate with my son and daughter-in-law, and my grandson. We reminisced about our crazy life in Siberia when the kids were little.
And lastly, I leave you with this:
Have a fabulous week, and thank you for reading!
XO!
BTW, have you picked up Flashpoint yet? I am so grateful for all the great reviews! The next book comes out a couple of weeks, so get this now, and you’ll be all set to binge-read the series!
