What’s your labor?

Rel Mollet Books, Family, Good Stuff, Life in Russia

So, how’s your Labor Day going?

Here’s, it’s raining. There goes the BBQ.

Naw, we actually planned on working outside all day, so we’re doing a little fist bump.

What are we working on, you say?

Finally, our office addition is being built, and today, hubs installed in floor heat. I held stuff. Like the air stapler. The blue metal thingies. Donuts. My phone.

You get the picture.

Sadly, last weekend we were in Florida, doing this:

(if you get real close to hubs right now, you might here some muttering. Don’t get too close)

Inside, destruction hit the counter as I went through all the horizontal filing for the past three months. (My kitchen doesn’t normally look this way. It’s the storm before the calm.)

Look, I take my holidays very seriously. LABOR day.

I can’t say the word LABOR without thinking of RUSSIA. When we lived there, oh, thirty years ago, everywhere we looked there were signs that said, “We will be victorious through communist labor.” It was written on buildings, billboards, hung on flags…

In fact, someone even gifted us this banner:

Soviet Flag, Banner - We will come to a victory of communist labor.USSR | eBay

It was in this post-communist world that I wrote my first thriller.

It was called In Sheep’s Clothing and it was about a missionary in Russia who is on the run from a serial killer. It was a Christy award finalist, and was inspired by true events in Khabarovsk, far east Russia, where we lived for eight years. It was followed by two more stories, one set in Russia, and one in Taiwan, also inspired by true events.

I loved these books. I wrote them when I was first getting my footing in the world of writing and publishing. And oh, did I labor over them. I wrote Sheep 7 times! And Sands—5 times. Serpent—3 times.

But the labor was worth the reward. I’m so excited that these three books, which long ago went the way of Out of Print are now back in action. Refreshed, (and the third story has an enhanced storyline), I’ve dubbed them the Global Guardians, gave them cool new titles, and I’m thrilled that new readers can read about Vicktor and Gracie, Roman and Sarai, and Yanna and David. (Hey, if you read the Montana Marshalls series, you’ve already met them!) I love these fantastic new covers, too!!

And right now, they are 25% off! (Only $5.99!)

They are available in ebook (all platforms) and paperback (via Amazon).

Oh and here’s a fun flash from the past…this is our family when we lived in Russia.

Here’s us today: (or most of us)

Now, to some housekeeping:

For those who are waiting for FORD and WYATT to come out on Audible…yeah, sorry. Audible is really backed up and despite my repeated emails, who knows when they will list them (although they ARE in the system, just waiting).

Okay, I’d better go outside and check on my Laborer. I think he will come to victory through cookies.

Thank you for reading!!

P.S. After I make him cookies, I’m headed out to the porch to read this beauty! Tari is a fantastic writer, and if you haven’t read her Restoring Heritage series yet, then you’re in for a treat. Beautifully written, stories set in Michigan—she’s on my favorite authors list! Her next book hits the shelves tomorrow!
